Alan Fruitman
Alan Fruitman is the co-founder of Inherited Property Match and the President and Managing Broker of Real Estate Foundation, Inc. Across more than 30 years in real estate, Alan has been involved in more than $2 billion in property transactions and has helped thousands of families and investors buy, sell, and exchange real estate across all 50 states.
Alan began his real estate career in 1993, during his final semester at Colorado State University, where he earned a degree in economics. He started at Keller Williams Realty and went on to work at MetroBrokers, a Denver-based residential brokerage. During his first seven years in the industry, Alan sold approximately 300 residential properties.
Early in his career, Alan discovered a niche that most brokers overlooked. Using public records, he identified property owners who lived in different states from their holdings. He began specializing in helping out-of-state owners sell rental properties and use 1031 exchanges to defer capital gains. When a client asked about exchanging rental houses for a single-tenant net lease property, Alan became fascinated with triple net (NNN) commercial real estate and never looked back.
Alan founded 1031tax.com during the early years of the internet. The platform became one of the first online resources for investors looking to purchase NNN properties through 1031 exchanges. Alan is the author of The NNN Triple Net Property Book (2014), a guide for buyers of single-tenant NNN leased property that is available for free download on the 1031tax.com website.
Alan has been featured in or interviewed by The Associated Press, How to Scale Commercial Real Estate Podcast, The Best Ever CRE Show, Accredited Investors Only, Invest Florida Show, The Cash Flow Investor, and other regional and national publications.
In 1993, Alan also founded Real Estate Broker Match (REBM), a nationwide broker-matching service that connects property owners with vetted real estate brokers. Over time, Alan and the REBM team noticed that a significant share of their clients were selling inherited property, and that those transactions required a very different kind of expertise. The brokers who handled probate sales, trust transactions, and multi-heir situations well were rarely the same brokers who topped the leaderboards for general residential or commercial sales. That pattern led directly to the creation of Inherited Property Match.
